Artist Michelle Tomlinson, turns vintage lighting into Heirloom Art:

By selecting a pre existing vintage or decorative lighting piece, she selects a lamp shade frame
style to complement the fixture.  Drawing out a master plan for the final design she refinishes the
fixture and creates a hand sewn lamp shade to complete the piece.  While using the arts of hand dying
silk, hand beading fringes and trims, tatting, embroidery, crochet, applique, and pleating, in addition
to hand-loomed netting and meshes, each piece is transformed into a completely unique
Illuminated Art Piece.   Vintage materials and lampshade frames are used when available.

Each piece in Michelle's Heirloom Collection is named, numbered, dated and tagged.
 
(Note that Michelle refinishes only pieces that can not be preserved in their original state).
